Antonio K. Kizzie is an associate in the litigation group of Ivie, McNeill, & Wyatt (“IMW”), focusing on general litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, business formation and contracts law. As a litigator, Mr. Kizzie handles all aspects of litigation including drafting and responding to pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation. Mr. Kizzie is experienced in conducting trials as well as researching and preparing pleadings including motions to compel, demurrers, oppositions, complaints, answers, and summary judgment motions.

In 2008, Mr. Kizzie received his Bachelors of Arts in Legal Communications from Howard University (“HU”) in Washington, D.C. At HU, he became the first Richard D. Parsons Time Warner Cable Scholar, received a full HU Academic Legacy Scholarship, was a Rhodes Scholar nominee, and is featured on the John H. Johnson School of Communications Hall of Fame. Mr. Kizzie was also a participant in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute, Monster.com Diversity Leadership Program, and the American Institute of Foreign Study in Granada, Spain, where he developed a conversational fluency in Spanish. While in undergrad, Mr. Kizzie interned at the United States Department of Justice, Office of Communications and the Executive Office of the D.C. Superior Courts.

Mr. Kizzie received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law in 2011. While in law school, Mr. Kizzie participated in the Jones Day Moot Court competition, served as the Co-Chair of the UCLA Black Law Student’s Association, volunteered with the El Centro Legal Prisoner Re-entry Legal Clinic, served as a graduate professional mentor with UCLA School of Law Outreach, coordinated the Sixth Annual UCLA Law Firm Diversity Reception, and was an articles editor for the UCLA Entertainment Law Review. While in law school, Mr. Kizzie worked as a research assistant to a UCLA Law Professor, and as a law clerk for California Lawyers for the Arts, the Cochran Firm, Viacom-BET Networks Business and Legal Affairs, and as an intern with Creative Artists Agency. During law school, Mr. Kizzie was a two-time recipient of the John M. Langston Bar Association Scholarship, received the Illinois Judicial Counsel Scholarship, and was featured as a panellist in several programs, including the UCLA Early Academic Outreach Program.

Before joining IMW, Mr. Kizzie was a Deputy City Attorney in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office Metropolitan Branch, where he successfully conducted several criminal trials in Los Angeles Superior Court. Additionally, Mr. Kizzie had several years of experience as a legal assistant for the Occhipinti Law Group, where he drafted and revised production, split songwriter, executive producer and side artist contracts in the music and television industries. In this position, Mr. Kizzie also prepared all requisite legal documentation for the formation of various legal entities, including LLCs, corporations, partnerships, and trademarks.

Mr. Kizzie’s community activities consist largely of his involvement with the John M. Langston Bar Association, where he served for two years on the board as the law student liaison to all the law schools in the greater Los Angeles area. He currently serves as the Youth Outreach Program Co-Chair, where he develops programs that help elementary and high school students from underserved communities gain exposure to practicing attorneys, law students, and provides them information to assist in their college endeavours. Mr. Kizzie also continues his activities as a mentor to law students, and has assisted dozens of college students successfully navigate the LSAT and law school application process.
